We will repeat the re-polish and re-coat once more. There is some question about whether the grism accidentally never got coated on the damaged surface, which would be a $2500 mistake in our favor. * The replacement dewar window is here, waiting to find out if it will be sent out for coating. * The echellette prism is being fabricated at Zygo. III) Electronics (Bagish) - assembly and wiring of guider and array controller power supply chassis - assembly and fabrication of parts for PI XY stage controller enclosure - RTD temperature sensors and PCB's assembled, ready for installation - RS-432 converter installation in chassis - new micro-stepping controllers for GTM drives ordered IV) Software (Birk/Clardy) Birk: - Science array focus control test and integration started - test and integration of DSS wheel started - Needed for final test and integration: - hatch screen - calibration lamps - flexure tables - thermal tables - temperature and pressure sensors - remaining grating tilt mechanisms Clardy: - additional work on guide camera motion stage control completed - fitting of telescope and instrument optical models to slit mask fabrication code continuing. V) Detector Systems (Thomson/Burley) - Thermal control system for CCDs started - Copper cooling parts for science array installed - New getters designed - Design hard stops for science array VI) Mechanics (Bigelow/Hare) Bigelow: In January: 1) Continued short camera assembly 2) Continued liquid cooling plumbing design 3) Received Bally enclosure for thermal testing 4) Install structure counter-balance mass assemblies For February: 1) Finish short camera assembly, install 2) Test long camera focus motors with new PI controllers 3) Order cooling system components for: - dewar cooling loop - PI controller cooling loop - guide camera cooling loops (3) - instrument electronics cooling loop - instrument cooling control panel - Nasmyth platform cooling panel Hare: - Mounted optics and reassemble guide cameras as needed. Continue assembly, testing, and rework of all guide cameras as necessary. - Continued flexure testing and performance evaluation of the Grating Tilt Mechanism. - Assembly and testing of Disperser Server System, including drive and cable wrap sub-assemblies. - Resume design work of the Calibration Unit. - Design baffles for filter insertion stages VII) Fabrication (Kowal) In January: 1) Finished all Grism Cell Assemblies 2) Made new Cryotiger Mount. 3) Modified G.T.M. base plates. 4) Imaging Mirror Cells completed. 5) Bulkhead Shroud sent out for fabrication (due Feb 5th.) 6) Dewar Window Bezel completed. 7) PI Controller brackets finished. 8) Electronic Panels (ongoing) Expectations for February: 1) Make 3 Dewar getter Assemblies. 2) Finish new Insertion Arm and Key for FSS. 3) Modifying of Dewar parts as needed. 4) FOSS disk covers made and installed on structure. 5) Begin machining of 3 remaining Grating Tilt Mechanisms. 6) Electronic Panels (as needed). IX) Other Business Next meeting: 10:15 AM, 3/5/03
